Film-Ocean Ltd., a leading provider of Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) services to the global energy sector, was pleased to host Harriet Cross MP and Aberdeenshire Councillor John Crawley at its headquarters.
The visit was hosted by Mike Mackie, Head of Operations; Sophie Bryce, Commercial Manager; and John Bloomfield, Global Business Development Manager. The aim was to provide an introduction to the business, its operations, and Film-Ocean’s forward-looking plans for sustainable growth and community engagement.
The discussion focused on Film-Ocean’s strong sustainability record and ambitious plans to generate power on-site. The company has already installed solar panels and is in the process of submitting planning applications for the installation of a wind turbine—initiatives that will significantly reduce reliance on external energy sources and reinforce Film-Ocean’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
As a major employer in Ellon, Film-Ocean is committed to investing in local talent and workforce development. The company shared its plans to collaborate with Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) initiatives, offering opportunities for apprenticeships and career development within the energy and subsea industries.
Following discussions, the visit concluded with a guided tour of the company’s workshop facilities. Guests were introduced to Film-Ocean’s cutting-edge ROV systems and given insight into the company’s 20-year track record of success in delivering safe, innovative, and efficient subsea solutions to clients across the globe.
"We were delighted to welcome Harriet Cross MP and Councillor John Crawley to our site,” said Mike Mackie, Head of Operations. “It was a valuable opportunity to highlight not only the scale and expertise of our operations but also our role in supporting local employment, skills development, and the energy transition."
